In spite of the Spanish driver of Kurdish heritage came from the bottom, several factors prevented him to improve his 8th place in this weekend ́s second race of the International GT Open at Monza. Now his next aim is final round in Barcelona.

Isaac Tutumlu couldn ́t reach another podium finish in the International GT Open round at Monza, his target for this Italian venue. Barzani Racing Team driver played an important role at the end of the race, but podium was out of reach despite his efforts. His teammate Dimitris Deverikos completed first stint in the race at the wheel of Autorlando Sport Porsche 997 GT3 R, starting from 13th on the grid.

Drivers had to cope with wet track at the beginning, and race was started with the safety car deployed. Tutumlu explained that “safety car wasn ́t a good sign for us, because Dimitris needed to try overtaking maneuvers at the start. His stint was quite good, getting past four or five slower cars”. But this weekend wasn ́t a lucky one for them, and when Deverikos pitted 12th and Tutumlu was ready to take over from the Greek, “we had problems with seat belt, so we lost something like ten additional seconds during driver change. I pushed hard and became fastest driver on track. Asphalt was getting dryer and on wet tires cars were quite difficult to handle. My lap times were constantly 1:59s, catching former F1 driver Giorgio Pantano”, Tutumlu said after today ́s race. He finally added that “our 8th place doesn ́t show our race pace, but minor problems meant to lose precious time and by this reason our podium chances were gone. Last but not least Balance of Performance didn ́t help us either, because our car torque was inferior. There is one round left, in Barcelona, so we want to focus on it. There our main options are to win the Iber GT championship, where Dimitris and I will arrive in second place. Int ́l GT Open is quite difficult but not impossible. We will try it!”.

After a very demanding season both championships finish at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, on 9-10 November.
