Stronger than the rain and handicap-time, Villorba Corse triumphed at Le Castellet with Andrea Montermini and Andrea Filippi at the wheel of the powerful Ferrari 458 GT2. After Saturday’s overall podium, the talented Italian crew has fought back from 12th on the grid to victory thanks to a thrilling comeback in the second race of the first 2013 GT Open round.

Also the second qualifying session was affected by weather conditions so that Filippi could not qualify better than 12th for race-2 but setting pole position among the Super GT cars. The sixth row on the grid wasn’t a problem in wet conditions as the young Italian was already fifth at the end of the first lap and managed to gain the second position before the mandatory-pit-stop for driver-change. At mid-race Montermini started to lap faster than his rivals and that allowed the whole team to celebrate from top on the podium after the race.
