The Avon Tyres British GT Championship switches to the high speed Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, Northamptonshire this weekend (5-6 May) for the second round of the 2013 season and the first two-hour race of the year.

After a superb start to the year at Oulton Park, which saw the No. 25 United Autosports Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3 of Mark Patterson and Matt Bell claim an exceptional second place finish, United Autosports are looking to build on that result and be in a position to challenge for further championship points with all three race cars.

Álvaro Parente will be back in action alongside United Autosports Co-Owner Zak Brown in the No. 23 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 and recent signing, former British GT4 Champion Jody Firth, will partner Mark Blundell in the No. 24 sister car.

Rockingham will see an impressive 30 plus cars on the grid and the first endurance race of the weekend, which will include refuelling during the strategic pit stop. This means the United Autosports team has an added challenge ahead of them, but it’s one they are fully prepared for.

“The season opener was full of ups and downs,” said Richard Dean. “Missing out on a podium with the No. 23 McLaren in the first race was disappointing; however, Mark and Matt finishing second in the final race was a great result. We have been busy preparing and have an upgrade on the No. 23 McLaren this weekend. We have Álvaro back and we welcome Jody into the mix. As I have said before it’s a tough championship, but we are in the hunt.”
