With their BMW Z4 GT3, the ‘PIXUM Team Schubert’ pairing won the race on the drying track in superior style and, following this triumph, holds third position in the overall-championship. “Having achieved this win today is fantastic”, Hürtgen said. “Dominik handed the car over to me in an excellent position: I was able to study the leading Mercedes to learn about its strengths and weaknesses so I could pass it at the right moment. On the drying track, the BMW Z4 GT3 was incredibly fast.”

Meanwhile, the championship lead is held by another BMW Z4 GT3, with two race weekends of the season contested. Simon Knap and Jeroen den Boer, racing for Team DB Motorsport, finished third in both races and rewarded themselves for their consistency by taking the first position on the championship table. By finishing sixth on Sunday, Yelmer Buurman and Martin Matzke secured the best result for Team Vita4One Racing.

Jörg Müller’s BMW Z4 GT3 no 20 was involved in a massive accident with Audi’s René Rast. While, given the circumstances, Müller was lucky to avoid injury, Rast had to be taken to a nearby hospital. “I saw René’s car extremely late and, when I realised it was almost stopping on the track, averting the crash was just impossible” Müller said. “I wish René all the best and hope that he gets well quickly and will be back in the cockpit soon.”
