The European Le Mans Series is back this weekend with its second 2013 round, which will take place at Imola, in Italy. The 3-hour race will take place on Saturday 18 May at 16:00 hours and Joël Camathias looks forward to what will be the ELMS closest to home. After the excellent fourth place collected in the season-opener at Silverstone, the Swiss driver is confident that an even better result can be achieved in Italy and that the Ferrari 458 of British squad JMW Racing, shared with Andrea Bertolini, will be competitive on the fast Italian track.
Joël Camathias: “I am anxious to be on track for the second ELMS event of the season. We had a positive start of the year at Silverstone, despite the terrible weather conditions, but felt a little bit frustrated with our final 4th position. We would have been on the podium hadn’t the race been shortened because of the heavy rain and poor visibility. We can definitely aim at better conditions in Imola, a fast and challenging track I know well for having raced there several times in the GT Open. It’s going to be the home event for my team-mate Andrea Bertolini, and Imola is not far from Lugano either, so I expect to see many friends and fans there. This will give us extra motivation and I’m quite confident that the Ferrari 458, perfectly prepared by JMW, can do well there, in front of a very strong competition.”
