Ecurie Ecosse pairing Oliver Bryant and Marco Attard secured victory in round three of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Silverstone today, in a three-hour race that saw all of the top four in the points standings finish outside of the points scoring positions opening up the seven round championship with four rounds still to go.
The GT4 class saw a titanic race-long battle between the Pro Sport Performance Porsche Cup car of Adam Christodoulou and Joerg Viebahn, and the pole-sitter, the Ekris BMW M3 GT4 of Ricardo van der Ende and Pieter Christiaan van Oranje. The two cars crossed the line separated by just two tenths of a second.
Quick Quotes

‘It was really cool. We had a good strategy which gave us some flexibility, and the safety car played into our hands. We avoided contact, we stayed out of trouble and we had a very early stop which got Jonny out which was brilliant, but then there was a lengthy safety car period which lost us time, then I got back in and had a longer stint which is good practice for next week. Chuffed to bits, it was a proper race and it showed what we can do in a proper race scenario. We really needed this. We were very fortunate there were so many non-finishers.’

‘Steve did a good job at the start, I had a good stint too. Then Steve went out once more and it was a case of what can we get; we’re absolutely delighted with the result though. We kept out of the trouble, didn’t take too many risks and here we are on the podium. Despite the big grid, the traffic was fine and it wasn’t too much of an issue. It is really nice to get a podium with 888; we just need to find a little more and we can hopefully get a better result soon.’
Adam Christodoulou #408 Pro Sport Porsche (GT4 Winner)
‘The start was just a case of staying out of trouble, then we had the safety car and we stayed out for the first one but decided to pit during the second one which put us pretty close to the front. Then with about 90 minutes to go we had the BMW literally on our bumper. We struggled a bit with the tyres and had to keep out of the way of the GT3s that were flying past us and I was pacing up and down the pit lane the last few laps with Joerg in the car, it was nervous stuff. This is the third car we’ve had in the past week; the first got written off at the Nurburgring last weekend and the second the ECUs didn’t match up. We got this on Thursday night, stripped it, put it back together and travelled friday night. We missed half of free practice and here we are on the podium, what a weekend.’
Joerg Viebahn #408 Pro Sport Porsche (GT4 Winner)
‘I have to say that the balance of performance was great. We had advantages out of the corners, but the BMW was great on the brakes; it made for great racing. It was really great fun, this is what racing is about. You don’t want to be fifteen seconds ahead, you want to fight for it and feel like you’ve achieved something. This was a really good race.’
