Joel Camathias is heading to Germany for the third round of the season of the International GT Open, which takes place this weekend at the Nürburgring, the legendary track nested in the Eifel hills. The Swiss driver is confident that he and team mate Mario Cordoni will be able to show further improvement at the wheel of the Ombra Racing Ferrari F458 GT3. Following good shows at Paul Ricard and Portimão, the outfit is ready for some good result, in a GTS class that is proving extremely competitive this year. As often, weather conditions are expected to play a role at the ‘Ring, with forecasts pointing to possible very changing conditions.
Joël Camathias: “I am always happy to go to the Nürburgring. This is one of the tracks where you can almost touch with hand the history and legend of motorsports. It is a very technical track, which retains the essence of the old Nordschleife, and where a good set-up of the car is always difficult to find. We know that there is some risk of rain and that temperatures won’t be very high, so we will have to see how this will play on the tires and on the balance of the car. We are progressing race after race and I hope we can materialize this in Germany, although we face an even stronger competition, with some new cars coming in I the GTS class.”
