The Spaniard driver of Kurdish heritage will fight for new successes in the International GT Open at the Circuito de Jerez, a meeting also counting towards the Spanish Iber GT championship where the Barzani Racing Team driver is second.

Isaac Tutumlu is going to participate in a new meeting of the International GT Open, the championship where the driver racing under Barzani Racing Team banner drives a Porsche 997 GT3 R fielded by Autorlando Sport and teaming up with Dimitris Deverikos. The Circuito de Jerez will host this round, foreseen to be different from last two races at Nürburgring due to high temperatures in Spain. Just like happened at Autódromo do Algarve, next two races will count towards the Spanish Iber GT championship as well, where the driver of Kurdish roots lies second overall.

“I like Jerez, and I ́ve great racing memories there even when I haven ́t visited it recently. My last season there was in 2008, participating in the Spanish Endurance Cup and driving a Nissan 350Z. I finished 3rd in D3 and in the second race I forced to retire while leading after a lapped car hit me”, Tutumlu explains. He recognizes that “Jerez won ́t an easy task, because high temperatures won ́t a help to cope with tires wear. Precisely we struggled with heat in Portugal and this time it looks even worse. So it will be compulsory to race in an intelligent way in order to save tires. If we manage to do that, we ́ll keep our options to win alive, mainly in race one, longer than race two. Unfortunately my teammate doesn ́t know this track and we couldn ́t test here before, but Autorlando Sport and I have experience there and it ́s a good starting point. We ́re second in the Spanish championship and the lead in the GT Open is just ten points away, so two good races in Portugal will help us to keep fighting for both titles”.

After free practice and qualifying sessions both races are taking place on Saturday and Sunday, at 16.00 (CET) and 12.00 (CET) respectively.
