After the summer break, race activity resumes also for the European Le Mans Series, which will see participants to the reference endurance continental series compete this weekend at the Hungaroring, the track in the outskirts of Budapest. The 3-hour race is scheduled on Saturday, kicking-off at 4 p.m. This is already the one before last round of the season, hence critical for the title battle. Joel Camathias and team mate Andrea Bertolini, at the wheel of the Ferrari F458 of British squad JMW Motorsport, are more determined than ever to improve their current third place in the overall standings, in order to go with title hopes to the final round at Paul Ricard. After two fourths and a second in the previous rounds, the competitiveness of the outfit is increasing and there is the potential to be again on the podium.
Joël Camathias: “I haven’t raced at the Hungaroring since 2001, when I was in F.3000. That was some time ago, so I don’t remember much of the track, but that’s not a major issue, it will all come back once there. We all know it is a twisty and relatively slow track, where overtaking is not easy, therefore it is important to qualify well and be upfront on the grid. I hope we can have, at last, a trouble-free race, contrarily to the previous ones. In that case, I’m sure we will do well, as the potential of our package is high. It is essential to finish on the podium, if possible, and to gather heavy points, in order to go to the Paul Ricard end of this month with the possibility to fight for the title.”
