The winter season is slowly coming to an end and all the teams looking to show international success in 2009 are in the meanwhile busy with their test season. This is also the case with ProSpeed Competition, which has been at work in Portugal. The Belgian team was there to prepare for the 2009 season, and will once again be competing in both the FIA GT and the European FIA GT3 with Porsche. Last season ProSpeed Competition experienced its debut in both these championships and following on from a strong first year have every intention of scoring even better in 2009.
“Let us kick off with the news regarding the FIA GT”, Rudi Penders starts off the conversation. “In 2008 we had a strong and homogenous duo with Emmanuel Collard and Richard Westbrook, as proven by victories in Monza and Nogaro, and we’re therefore pleased that we can throw in our lot with them once more. Emmanuel is once again on the list of official Porsche-drivers and is the only one competing in the FIA GT This will also be the case for us, being most probably the sole Porsche-team in FIA GT, and moreover with the support from Porsche, which for all the ProSpeed Competition members is confirmation of the excellent work and constant progression made.”
“The second Porsche 911 GT3 RSR will also be in the hands of a fast duo, but further news on that subject will follow shortly. We want to have everything in the bag prior to breaking the news. However you can rest assured that we are out to score points with both cars as the team championship is also one of our objectives.”
“It goes without saying that for us opting for the FIA GT championship is an obvious choice. The championship, and definitely the FIA GT2, is a tremendously edifying competition with an enormous magnetism. And especially with a view to the upcoming evolutions in 2010 we obviously want to show our full strength this coming season.”
The two Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, which will be putting in their appearance in the FIA GT2 are fully adapted to the 2009 specifications, namely in the fields of transmission, engine and aerodynamics.
Apart from the FIA GT programme the European FIA GT3 is also on the calendar. Similar to last year ProSpeed Competition will be entering two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S cars. “Here also we’re amongst the lucky ones, because only a maximum of three teams entering two cars of a same make will be allowed. “The Balance of Power tests to be held in March and April will be of major importance”, Penders continued. “For the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S, last season was not an easy one and this year, with new cars, we are looking to be competing up front.”
In the coming weeks there will be further news regarding the line-up of the FIA GT3 teams.
