The Farnbacher Loles Racing Team arrived in Sebring, Florida this week in preparation for Saturday¹s 12 Hours of Sebring. The 57th running of this prestigious event promises to be one of the best ever. Race teams, drivers, journalists and fans from around the world are expecting fierce battles on the 3.7 mile circuit not just for the overall win, but in the GT2 Class as well.
After a very strong performance last year in their maiden season in the American Le Mans Series, which included their first ALMS win, the Farnbacher Loles Racing Team enters the 2009 season with even higher expectations.
³Last year was a learning season for us² said team principal Gregory Loles. ³We showed front-running speed at every track and in spite of missing one race and getting crashed out at Sebring, we still managed to finish sixth in points. This year we return to run the full season supported by Porsche Motorsport with a brand new 2009 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The new RSR has been really good right out of the factory, with some marked improvements even over last year¹s car. Horst (Farnbacher) has been working with the crew to get it set up for Sebring and we feel very good about its potential even in light of the new competition in the series.²
³In the off season we addressed the one area where we had some inconsistency last year: driver line-up. Dirk Werner had a number of different co-drivers in 2008, which resulted in a lack of cohesion from race to race. This year he will be teamed with an old friend, Porsche Factory Driver Wolf Henzler. In addition to being one of the most finest race drivers on the planet, Wolf is like family to us as he has been racing for us for many years. Coming off his first ALMS Championship, we couldn¹t ask for a better partner for Dirk. Werner and Henzler will be joined at Sebring and longer races by another very talented Porsche Factory driver, Richard Lietz. Over the last two seasons, Richard has racked up an impressive resume of his own including winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2007 and taking the pole there in 2008.²
