Since Laguna Seca, we had not many news about Ian Dawson’s ECO Racing project, but today Ian has kindly given us some pieces of information :
“Since we raced in Laguna Seca 2008 we returned to England and spent December January re positioning Water radiators and intercoolers as well as having the race engine rebuilt after 50 hours running with no problem.
We fitted a fresh engine which had work done at AER on the Shell LM 24 Diesel as we no longer can run the D1 Jatropha Bio Diesel due to the ACO regulations. We have suffered the loss of sponsorship and have not been able to replace it yet. The aim is still to enter 4 or 5 IMSA races in 2009 and Silverstone LMS.
We have tested 2 times this month, Harri Toivonen being behind the wheel, but now we must work again on finding partners or drivers with budgets. Still we hope to test 2 drivers in 2 weeks and we see what else can be confirmed.
We were encouraged by our Laguna event although we had some problems the car can race credibly about GT1 pace with GT2 fuel consumption and our target was to us the minimum of tyres and people which does work.
The restoration of the Group C /GTP cars is still active and we have 4 races in 2009 and I am now looking for 2 more cars to restore to keep the workshops busy.”
We do warmly think Ian Dawson for his kindness and we will follow closely the project.
