“Here we are finally! After a few months off-season, I could finally start to enjoy racing again during the FIA-GT Official Test Days. We have run at the Paul Ricard HTTT for two test days altogether to get ready for the season. All the GT top teams were running. It has been the first time to pit our strength against the FIA-GT championship’s big names. It has been a real pleasure to see so many trucks in the paddock. The whole team was back from Barcelona where Luc, Patrice and Yann finished second for the first round of the Le Mans Series. We so could not run the first day because we needed time to settle and get the Corvette ready.
“I so started to drive on Tuesday morning and I quickly got into the swing of things. I had to try two sets of tires and I have run for about twenty laps during the first session, with the best lap-time of both test days. It is good to see that we are already in the good pace, but we must be careful because our opponents are close behind. There are more than ten GT1 and all the drivers are very good. The championship is tops of the GT class and I am delighted to represent team Luc Alphand Aventures in FIA-GT. There is no prototype so we can fight for the overall classification. Well I have to admit that I would like to run in both championships and also drive a prototype in the Le Mans Series.
“These tests also gave me the opportunity to drive with Xavier (Maassen). He is very professional and he suits the atmosphere of the team. He already knows the championship because he has entered it last year. We will have to put up with the handicap weight in case of good results, but this is the rule. I am convinced that we can remain competitive despite the handicap weight. We just need to know where to distribute this weight. We must keep in mind that Philippe Poincloux is a cunning strategist. The key to success in this championship relies on not making any mistake.
“I will also discover a few tracks such as Adria, Bucharest or Zolder. We need to work on changes of driver to lose a minimum amount of time in the pits but I fully trust the team about that. I have listened carefully to the unveiling of the GT1 World Championship as well, which should start next year. Stéphane Ratel does things well and I hope that teams will follow him. Before that, we will be in Silverstone in a few weeks for championship’s kick-off, but we won’t talk about testing there…”
