The first test for the new Creation CA07/2009 held yesterday (Thursday) at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk, GB, was declared a success by all 3 drivers. The car completed 192 trouble-free laps in both high and low downforce settings with Vanina (Ickx) and Romain (Iannetta) doing the lions share of the driving.
Creation’s longest standing and most experienced driver Jamie Campbell-Walter enthused “It was a very successful and productive test with lots of running. We set the car up on the High Downforce specification to start with, which I think helped Vanina and Romain to become well acquainted with the handling of the Creation”.
“Later in the day we switched to the Low Downforce to prepare for what will be a ‘Le Mans’ style setting, and it went very well indeed. The new rear wing had a very good balance in both configurations and the Michelin tyres gave a very good grip level”.
Speaking of her first experience with the car and team, Vanina commented “How great it is to be back in a LMP1! I had a pefect day in Snetterton to get acquainted with my new car, new team and new co-drivers. I received a warm welcome from the team and Jamie contributed to my fast adaptation to the car”.
“We did a few runs on dry conditions and went from high downforce to the Le Mans aero. This helped to build confidence in this light and responsive car. Beside Michelin Tyres seem to suit the car well!”.
The Creation team will continue their Le Mans preparations at Snetterton again this coming Monday (1 June).
