For two consecutive weekends ProSpeed Competition has an appointment on the brand new Portuguese circuit of Portimao, respectively for the fourth round of the FIA GT3 which was held on 12th and 13th September, whilst this weekend the sixth round of the FIA GT2 is on the programme. Marco Holzer and Niki Lanik performed well in the Portuguese GT3 race, one week prior to the GT2s, and now the regular driver duos comprised of Richard  Westbrook – Emmanuel Collard and Darryl O´Young – Marco Holzer will be out to repeat their strong performance of Budapest at the wheel of the two Porsche 911 RSR.

The 4,7-kilometer long circuit of Portimão, located in the Portuguese Algarve, will for the first time be hosting an FIA GT -competition. This brand new circuit is highly challenging, with a combination of fast and slow bends and curves, a long straight and quite a variation in height level. In this case a perfect set-up will be the decisive factor.

In FIA GT2* the championship is turning around a duel between Prospeed Competition and the Ferrari of AF Corse, and each race is of major importance. Following on from Portugal the championship will have two further points of call, Paul Ricard and Zolder.

ProSpeed Competition are heading off down south as leaders in the teams’ championship, whilst Richard Westbrook and Emmanuel Collard, following on from their masterly performance in Hungary, are now within two points of the championship leaders.

Richard Westbrook: “It will be a thrilling battle to the finish with the Ferrari. We are both carrying a fair amount of weight on board which means that it should be a pretty open and even fight through to the end. If the car, the team and we are able to repeat our Budapest performance, I reckon there’s a pretty good chance of clinching the title!”

But also for Darryl O´Young and Marco Holzer the championship is far from over. Marco Holzer is presently third in the championship and O’Young, with one race less (Oschersleben) seventh. Both drivers definitely have an individual ambition, but their results are equally of overriding importance in the battle for the crown of the GT2 teams.
