The Kaspersky Motorsport team is pleased to announce that the third and fourth drivers Rui Aguas and Davide Rizzo have both been promoted to a race seat for the 24 Hours of Spa race, completing the team’s driver line-up alongside Alex Moiseev and Stéphane Lemeret in the AM category.
July is a very important month for all endurance fans and a very busy one for those taking part in the 24 Hour race. As regular contenders in the Blancpain Series, the Kaspersky Motorsport team – number 49 racing with the Ferrari 458 Italia, prepared by AF Corse, was in action today along with many other competitors as the famous Belgian track laid on a full day of pre-race testing.
The Kaspersky Motorsport drivers shared their thoughts:
Alex Moiseev, Kaspersky Motorsport team driver and Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab Europe, said: “We are very pleased to announce that Rui Aguas and Davide Rizzo are joining the Kaspersky Motorsport team for the Spa 24 Hours. Davide showed his speed and commitment during this test. We know he is capable of doing a good job alongside Stéphane and Rui. We were well prepared and we did a good job so I am pleased with how things are going. The race will be long and the key is finishing and making no mistakes. Now we will go through the data and take the final steps, going over every detail on the car, because when you race for 24 Hours preparation is everything’.
Davide Rizzo, the new Kaspersky Motorsport driver commented: “I am really happy to get this opportunity and join the Kaspersky Motorsport team! For me, it’s been a real pleasure working with my new team. I will make the most out of it. Today we got a lot of data and this will help us for the race. There will be plenty to learn but I know my teammates will support me and I am sure I can be competitive right from the start”.
Stéphane Lemeret, Kaspersky Motorsport driver said: “I am sure we have made a big step forward and that should put us back in the fight at the front. It’s been a strong and productive test day. The balance is really good and it feels like we have a decent racecar. So, we look in good shape and we just need to do some more work on the details to be ready”.
As for Aguas, he wasn’t driving today, but he is brimming with confidence for the forthcoming Spa race: “First of all a big thanks to the whole Kaspersky Motorsport team. I have a great working relationship with my teammates, so I expect to be fighting for the win together in Spa.”
Later this month, on the 30th and 31st July to be precise, the Spa-Francorchamps circuit will host the GT racing highlight of the year, the “Total 24 Hours of Spa.” It is the blue ribbon event of the Blancpain GT Series and Intercontinental GT Challenge and no fewer than 65 cars are entered, driven by some of the very best drivers in this category in the world!
